Ineratec

Presented by Tim Boeltken Nominated by Karlsruhe Institute of Technology   Ineratec provides compact plants in containers, equipped with a patented chemical reactor technology, that enable customers to convert undervalued gases into highly valuable chemical products. This way, greenhouse gases like CO2 or yet unused (bio-) gases can be used to produce renewable gasoline, diesel, kerosene and chemical raw materials locally. These synthetic fuels can replace fossil fuels, resulting in a reduction of up to 95% of CO2 emissions with a massive impact on air quality.

In contrast to competing technologies which focus on very large plant capacities, Ineratec’s reactor is a 100 times smaller and thus more flexible and efficient, which makes the process more economically viable. Due to their compactness, entire chemical plants can now be realised in transportable container units for decentralised applications. The plants have a capacity of 1000 Liters per day. Ineratec’s customers benefit from reduced exhaust gas disposal costs. They can either generate revenues instead by selling the products or save raw material costs by consuming the products themselves. Another application is the long-term storage of renewable electricity together with the greenhouse gas CO2 in form of synthetic hydrocarbons of high energy density (Power-to-X). Ineratec’s technology thus helps to establish sustainable businesses based on renewable fuels and raw materials.
