Arjen Y. Hoekstra

Arjen Y. Hoekstra was a Professor of Water Management at University of Twente, founder of the Water Footprint Network and an international expert on human water use, the globalisation of water and sustainable water solutions. As creator of the water footprint concept, he laid the foundation of a new interdisciplinary research field, addressing the relations between water management, consumption and trade. Arjen Y. Hoekstra passed away in 2019.
