Pavel Kabat

Trained as a mathematician and hydrologist, Professor Kabat has worked in the field of earth system sciences since the early 1980s. In July 2020, he was appointed Secretary General of the International Human Frontier Science Program Organization (HFSPO), founded in 1989 by the G7 nations to advance international research and training at the frontier of the life sciences. Professor Kabat has also served as inaugural Chief Scientist and Research Director of the World Meteorological Organization of the United Nations and as Director General and Chief Executive Officer of IIASA, Austria.
